SCHOOLS IN VILLAGES AND CITIES
India has many villages. More than half the population lives in village areas. The government tries to open a school in every village. That is why villages have many small schools. Some village schools have only a few rooms and few teachers, but still they help children learn basic things.
Cities have big schools. Many private schools are in cities. They have a big building, a playground, labs, a computer room, and a library. City schools charge more fees also. But village schools are very important because they bring education to poor children.
Without village schools many children will never study. So the number of schools increases because of the village area also.
ROLE OF GOVERNMENT IN SCHOOL EDUCATION
Government plays a big role in school education. The central and state governments spend a lot of money on schools. They build buildings, appoint teachers, and give books, uniforms, and midday meals.
The midday meal scheme is very famous. Children get food in school. Because of food, many children come to school daily. This scheme increases attendance and learning also.
The government also makes a rule that every child from age 6 to 14 must go to school. This is called the Right to Education. Because of this rule, many new schools opened and old schools improved.
PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND THEIR GROWTH
Private schools are growing fast in India. Parents want good English, discipline, and activity for their child. Private schools give many extra things like dance, music, sports, and computers.
Because of competition, many private schools open every year. In cities and towns, private schools are more common than government schools. But fees are a problem for poor people.
Still, private schools also add to the total number of schools in India. Without private schools, education pressure on government schools will be very high.
IMPORTANCE OF SCHOOLS FOR INDIA
Schools are the backbone of the country. Without school, no future. Children learn reading, writing, math, science, and many things. They also learn how to behave, respect elders, and help others.
Educated children become doctors, engineers, teachers, soldiers, and leaders. They help the country grow. That is why India needs many schools.
